The Allegory Of The Cave
An invitation to dream about Hong Kong, a mirror game about perception.
Task
Inspired by the Allegory of the Cave from Plato, until today's quantum physics and multiverse theories, a visual essay about perception and knowledge as a reflection of our reality.

We started this project by simply filming timelapses about Hong Kong – a very photogenic and fascinating city. Looking at the recorded footage, I was gripped by the city’s verticality, which seems never to stop – this is how the idea of dividing the screen using a mirror technique was born, making the horizon line endless.

The short film is a tribute to Hong Kong, a city visually captivating. We use a title of a Plato novel, as each one will have a different perception of this metropolis, whether through a personal experience, a story of someone else…
We produced the film with timelapses only, and together with the music, it gives a sense of fairytale from the start, inviting the audience to an unusual journey around Hong Kong.
Also, we used a mirror technic to create new geometry. Several are based on some of the most iconic buildings of Hong Kong, giving a sense of futurism – we think it is well deserved for this city that inspired the 5th Element movie!
We are always around for feedback, comments, and great ideas!
