Circulatory Systems
The major highways, the arteries and veins of our cities.
Task
To produce abstract visual made from common traffic roads, diluting the original aesthetic into a bright new hypnotizing artwork.

Road, highways, traffic jams… circulation of vehicles have a solid hypnotizing power. Not to mention, especially during the night, with the cars, buses, trucks lights. For my eyes, it created an abstract pattern of shapes, colors, and sounds – this is what I wanted to put on screen with this short video.

While the technique has been used hundreds of times, if not more, what I enjoyed was the dynamic created by the repetition of the images and the motion. By combining these two elements, it produced an even more captivating visual. Then pushing the repetition, I created new visuals, and the designed geometry became fascinating to me.
Road and circulation are often associated with negativity in terms of pollution or visuals. I found interesting to produce something visually intriguing, if not mesmerizing, made of images with an ‘unpleasant’ subject.
When considering these circulation axes, it made me think about the arteries of our body. I found quite incredible the similarities: while our blood arteries maintain our body alive, we can say circulation axes maintain our economy alive.
This is how came the idea to call this essay ‘Circulatory System.’
